Resident Evil Village Stadia Pre-Orders Come With Free Stadia Premiere
Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Village is coming to Google Stadia and that people who pre-order the game will receive a free Stadia Premiere Edition. The existence of a Stadia version of Resident Evil Village was mentioned in the Capcom leak, but it was officially announced today.
Google has been shutting down its internal game development studios for Stadia, with the focus shifting toward high-profile third-party releases. There has been a slow trickle of announcements regarding upcoming Stadia games, with Dragon Quest 11 now available on the service. It was recently leaked that Google was spending ridiculous amounts of money to bring third-party titles to Stadia, though Resident Evil Village will be the first entry in the series to come to the service.

Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil Village will launch on Google Stadia at the same time as other systems, with a worldwide launch on all platforms on May 7. A new video on the official Stadia YouTube channel has announced that people who pre-order Resident Evil Village on Stadia will receive a Premiere Edition for the service, meaning that they will receive a Stadia controller and a Google Chromecast Ultra.
Resident Evil Village isn’t the first time that Google has given away Premiere Editions with games, as a similar promotion was held for Cyberpunk 2077. The promotion was so successful that Google had to end it early. That was before the truth about Cyberpunk 2077’s condition was known to the public, so it’s unclear if any Premiere Editions were sent back to Google. The company has also given out Premiere Editions to YouTube Premium subscribers, so it’s clearly a popular giveaway for the company.
Resident Evil Village is poised to be one of the biggest games of 2021, with Capcom hyping it up as the “best survival horror game to date.” Getting the game on Stadia is a great move for the service, and receiving a Chromecast Ultra just sweetens the deal. Resident Evil Village might not be the game that saves Stadia, however, as it’s available on every other platform, except for the Nintendo Switch. There will be no shortages of ways to play Resident Evil Village this Summer, but the people without a system capable of running the game might be interested in playing it through Stadia, especially with all of the free kit on offer.
Resident Evil Village will be available for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 7, 2021.
